Saturday Soliloquy: Balance

I don’t care what the world thinks about me, but that doesn’t mean I don’t want to put my best foot forward and try and create a good impression. So what must I do, how much of my life do I let the world dictate and how much of it should I live according to my own terms? Where, oh where can I find the perfect balance?

Do I wear what the society wants me to wear or do I adorn my own choice, do I find a piece of society approved clothing of my own choice? What about the choice of my friends, do I go for the same gender, same class and same age, sticking to the status quo, or do I break the barriers and befriend those whom I like irrespective of there age, gender and social class?

I don’t know, where will I find the balance when it comes to my career, shall I chose the less trodden path which I so much desire and am so passionate about, or do I take up that job that my family wants me to see in so that they may feel secure about my future?

Why do I have to put up with that nosy uncle just out of respect because that’s what the culture demands, why do I have to simply smile when he asks me the most private question and makes distasteful remarks on my looks? Why can’t I speak my mind when I want to?

What part of my life do I let the world take over and what part do I keep out of bounds? Is there ever a balance, or is it just a compromise…

  7. Rujuta, You have come up with basic questions, which is most appropriate when we are living in a state of flux.
There is something called “Dynamic Equilibrium”, which is different than “Balance”, which is stereotypical concept.
Whatever may be dictionary meaning or definition! I give you example here: watch Nataraja in dancing posture. That’s enough.
Everyone has to maintain this Dynamic Equilibrium throughout life to sustain. Keep dancing, to sustain.
    Think beyond “like/dislike”...

    2. dynamic equilibrium is not a concept, but actual - not verbal - practice, as in the dance, so in real life by all the living beings. Watch plants: they move their direction to get the sunlight. Aborigine people have survived for a million years before civilized society was born!
Except civilized man, all other humans, animals, plants practice Dynamic Equilibrium.
A species of fish, when grows in numbers, commit suicide. Whereas civilized society like India Society compels Farmers to commit suicide.
In the Age of Information Technology such things are common knowledge.
      That's why I never "I like/dislike"...

    3. Actually it's a devient from the main point... But a really good explanation...

    4. Like/Dislike is a mind mind-game, recently popularized social networks. Our life, or anybody's life, is not an object in a fashion shop. what s mind? just close your eyes, and watch: how the thoughts/images move?, where do they come from? where do they go? is there light inside that space, or is it dark?

This Space called Mind is identical Celestial Space. And all celestial bodies also have to go through dynamic equilibrium, not balancing act, as the move...

In context to real life issues, your main point is trivial point.

I was in Gujarat for some years. i witnessed the riots in cities and towns and villages. the very existence of humans was at stake. survival means to leave sanely.

Watch how a creeper in garden finds its support!

    5. You know what remi you could have made an entire blog post out of this comment!

But anyways thanks for sharing your thoughts so deeply....

A soliloquy is a talk, to self, through which I was just trying to make a point of how people sometimes lose themselves in an attempt to please others, how balance sometimes is no more than compromise...

On you the point seems completely lost....
